PGH to temporarily close outpatient department


The Philippine General Hospital (PGH) said Saturday, Aug. 14, that it will temporarily close its outpatient department (OPD) amid the increase in the number of coronavirus patients at the hospital.

In an advisory, the PGH announced that all outpatient services will be closed from Monday, Aug. 16 until further notice.

However, PGH's Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Science and the Cancer Institute will remain open.

Patients are encouraged to do telemedicine consultations.

On Saturday, the state-run hospital said it will temporarily halt accepting non-COVID-19 patients to further meet the needs of the growing number of patients with the viral illness.

As of Aug. 14, the PGH has 260 COVID-19 patients.
