#DapatSiLeni Network, composed of volunteers who are pushing Vice President Leni Robredo to run as president, released a short video clip of the "Kay Leni Tayo" jingle to amplify her “messages and traits.”
Lawyer Alvin Clyde Gregorio, spokesperson of the #DapatSiLeni Network, stated that the group “wanted to show the vibrant and youthful side of VP Leni's supporters—traits that most of the 1,000 volunteers the group have.”
“We were so excited when we listened to 'Kay Leni Tayo,' especially when we found out that it was made by the composer of Tala because our volunteers are part of the generation who've danced to it,” he told Manila Bulletin.
“The song has many messages, proving that there are many reasons why one would support VP Leni, and we focused on the part that says ‘Husay at Tibay (competency and strength)’ because we believe these are the core of VP Leni,” Gregorio added.
The #DapatSiLeni Network was built out of the volunteers’ need to see a leader who is capable to lead with strength and conviction, Gregorio stressed.
Entitled “Kay Leni Tayo,” the song has a youthful vibe into it, incorporating a short rap in the chorus about the vice president’s initiatives.
The video was originally uploaded on the Twitter and Facebook pages of Dapat Si Leni group. Abigail Valte and Edwin Lacierda, former Cabinet members during the Aquino administration, shared the link to the video on their respective Twitter accounts.
Supporters used the hashtags #DapatSiLeni, #HusayAtTibay, and #LetLeniLead on their tweets.
“Solid to (This is solid)!,” Valte said of the song, which espoused Robredo’s “tapang (courage)” and “puso (heart)” for the Filipinos.
“Kay Leni Robredo, hindi ka bigo. May tapang at puso para sa Pilipino. Heto na ang ating pinuno. Handa nang magsilbi. Husay at tibay, puso at isip. Kay Leni tayo (With Leni Robredo, you will not be disappointed. She has courage and heart for Filipinos. This is our leader. Ready to serve. Capable and strong, heart and mind. We’re with Leni),” the song said.
A 28-second short clip of the song with artwork done by volunteers was also uploaded for those who want to watch a short version of the video.
The full video showed Robredo’s Taal relief operations, COVID-19 response programs, Vaccine Express, aid for drivers, community learning hubs, and typhoon relief operations.
The song was a collaboration among FlipMusicPH, “Tala” composer Nica del Rosario, Mat Olavides, Jeli Mateo, and Justine Pena.

Robredo has yet to announce her intentions to run as president, though many see her as the only candidate who can unite the opposition.

The vice president said she’s focused on her office’s pandemic response for now, adding that she has until October 8—the last day of the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC)—to decide.
That does not stop her volunteers from organizing, however, to support Robredo all the way to Malacañang.
