"I was raised by two gay men."
The Miss Universe Philippines competition is getting hotter and hotter, and there are so many potentials vying for the spot—each with their advocacy that they hope can touch more hearts through this contest.
One of them is Simone Nadine Bornilla who hails from Marinduque. In her Instagram posts yesterday, "I was raised by two gay men and I can proudly say that I am nurtured with unconditional love and support. I am your LGBTQ+ ally in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 stage."
In another post, “I myself experienced discrimination first hand. I was not accepted in an International Catholic School when I was an incoming Grade 4 student simply because I came from a gay family. Surprisingly, Colegio San Agustin-Makati which, is also a Catholic School, accepted me with open arms. That’s why I want to be a voice for the LGBTQ+ community. No one should be judged based on your sexual preference nor the sexual orientation of your family."
Simone Bornilla goes into the next round of the competition.
