2 British men nabbed in Cebu buy-bust

CEBU CITY – Two British nationals were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations here.

Police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas (PDEA Region 7) arrested 24-year-old Daniel James Gadsden in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mabolo past noon Thursday, Aug. 12.

Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7, said dried marijuana leaves wrapped in a black garbage bag weighing around five grams were seized from Gadsden, an online English online teacher.

Gadsden, who has been staying in the country for more than a year, was capable of selling a kilo of marijuana a week, Alcantara said.

Past 7 p.m. the same day, the same team of law enforcers proceeded to Moalboal, Cebu to track down Gadsden’s alleged supplier of marijuana.

The target of the operation, a certain “Kap,” was able to elude arrest but authorities nabbed another British national, identified as Anthony Risely, 54, who was allegedly caught buying marijuana from the subject, said Alcantara.

Seized during the operation were two sachets containing dried marijuana leaves with an estimated value of P500.
