Ambulances with COVID-19 patients lined up for hours for laboratory tests and admission outside the Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) on Wednesday as the province of Bulacan recorded surging COVID-19 cases due to the detection of the most transmissible Delta variant in several cities and municipalities.

An ambulance driver, who requested anonymity, told the Manila Bulletin that he was trying to transfer a COVID-19 patient to the Bulacan Infection Control Center (BICC) in the City of Malolos on Wednesday evening.
He was instructed that the COVID-19 patient he was carrying would have to take some laboratory tests at the BMC. They arrived at the BMC at 10 a.m. The patient was only admitted at the BICC at 5 p.m..
"Yes, we stayed at BMC for 7 hours. All ambulances outside the BMC have a COVID-19 positive passenger, excluding those who are in the tents," he said.
As of August 11, another 321 cases were recorded by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) in Bulacan, bringing the provincial tally to 48,543 COVID-19 cases.
The PHO said that out of the 48,543 cases, 44,782 have recovered while 2,751 are active cases.
Of the 2,751 active cases, 389 are admitted in the hospitals, 86 in a Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (TTMF), while 2,276 are under home isolation.
The highest cases were recorded in the City of Malolos and in the municipalities of Calumpit and Guiguinto.
Six new deaths were also recorded, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 1,010.
