6 K-pop acts nominated at 2021 MTV Video Music Awards

Six K-pop acts have bagged nominations for the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards, which will be aired live on Sept. 12 from Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“This year’s awards, complete with a newly redesigned Moonperson statue from artist Kehinde Wiley, will also honor the victims of the 9/11 terror attacks by collaborating with the nonprofit 9/11 Day on a series of events to promote awareness and positive action around the day’s 20th anniversary,” according to the MTV website.

Idol group BTS leads the K-pop acts with five nominations: Song of the Year for “Dynamite,” Best Pop for “Butter,” est K-pop for “Butter,” Best Choreography for “Butter” courtesy of Son Sung with BHM Performance Directing Team and Best Editing for “Butter” courtesy of Yong Seok Choi from Lumpens.

Besides BTS, the other nominees for Best K-pop are (G)I-DLE for “Dumdi Dumdi,” BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez for “Ice Cream,” Monsta X for “Gambler,” Seventeen for “Ready to love” and TWICE for “Alcohol-Free.”
