Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday, August 11 defended Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso after being mocked by critics for his old sexy photos circulating online.

"Hindi ito isyu (This is not an issue). What’s important is that Yorme NEVER LIED, DID NOT STEAL, KILL, nor did he ever bring shame to the great people of Manila as a public servant," said Remulla in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

"Yorme did not do those provocative poses while in office as a respected councilor, vice mayor, or as the current Manila Mayor," he added.

Although Remulla did not name the mayor's critics, President Duterte had earlier mocked a certain local chief executive for being trained as a "call boy" for his sexy photos online.

While the President also did not mention any name, Domagoso is the only mayor in Metro Manila who previously starred in sexy movies before becoming a politician.

"Sa palagay ko, ang nais lamang ni Yorme noong mga panahon na iyon ay ang maiahon ang kanyang pamilya sa kahirapan (I think the only thing Yorme wanted at that time was to help raise his family from poverty)," Remulla said.

"He was very young then. I am sure the limelight was quite tempting for a young lad from a very poor background. And why not? The opportunity for him to earn a living was readily available," he added.

The Cavite governor pointed out that judging a political opponent should only be based on his ability in public service and not attack his character based on his past.

He added that judgment should be reserved only for those who have violated the law or who have betrayed the country.

Remulla had earlier slammed Domagoso for his comments over the alleged lack of aid for Manila residents who have been relocated to Cavite. They eventually patched things up.

The Cavite governor also added that both of them do not to want to be a party to vicious ad hominem attacks. "Walang personalan. Trabaho lang."
