Occupancy rates in Manila City’s hospitals and quarantine facilities are rising, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said on Tuesday (Aug. 10).
In his regular Facebook live update, Domagoso said the city’s COVID-19 Field Hospital's capacity has reached 92 percent, with 317 out of 344 beds occupied.
“Mataas na mataas na po ‘yan. Buti na lang meron tayong ganyan (That’s very high already, it's a good thing we have this facility),” the mayor said.
The bed utilization rate of the city’s six district hospitals is at 46 percent, with 226 out of the 491 total beds occupied.
Domagoso said the occupancy in the city’s quarantine facilities also rose to 15 percent from the regular 2 percent to 4 percent.
The mayor said the city is also coordinating with the private sector for the possible use of their buildings as quarantine facilities.
The inspection of these buildings is ongoing, according to the mayor.
“We must act fast...Our capacity is faster, bigger than the infection rate,” the mayor said.
The city recorded 246 new cases on Aug. 10, bringing the city's total of active cases to 1,201.
