(UPDATE): PH stands to receive 17.98 M more COVID-19 vaccines -- NTF


More than 17.98 million doses of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) will be delivered in the country in the remaining days of the month, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 revealed Monday night, August 9.

At President Duterte's public address, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. reported that a total of 4,741,500 doses have already been transported here out of the total 22,726,100 doses that were secured by the national government from various manufacturers this August.

This means that the country is anticipating the delivery of 17,984,600 more doses in the next three weeks, he said.

On Wednesday, August 11, Galvez said Pfizer will deliver 813,150 doses which were part of the 40 million doses that it procured from the American vaccine manufacturer.

A total of 1.17 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will also be flown by its British manufacturer not later than August 15.

Meanwhile, nine million doses of Sinovac jabs from China will be transported in three tranches: two million on the second week (date to be confirmed), four million on the third week, and three million on the fourth week. These vaccines were purchased by the government.

Another Chinese vaccine manufacturer, Sinopharm, will donate one million doses of its jabs on August 21. Galvez said the Chinese-made vaccines will be equitably distributed in areas outside Metro Manila.

"Ang balak po natin nito ay ibigay sa mga different provinces para po magkaroon po ng equitable distribution ang lahat ng ating mga probinsiya (We are planning to give it to different provinces so we can have an equitable distribution in all the provinces)," he stated.

Another shipment of Pfizer jabs will be made with the delivery of 727,850 doses. The exact date of arrival of the vaccines have yet to be confirmed.

Further, American manufacturer Moderna will also deliver 2,273,600 doses of jabs this month. These vaccines were purchased through a trilateral arrangement between the national government, the private sector, and Moderna.

Of these vaccines, the private sector will get 898,000 doses while the remaining 1.38 million doses will go to the national government.

Lastly, the COVAX facility, a global initiative that supports equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines, will donate three million doses to the country.

So far, the country has already received 38,602,200 doses of COVID-19 vaccines since February.

As of August 8, a total of 24,479,750 doses were administered nationwide while more than 14 million doses are in stock.

More than 13 million people have received their first dose while 11 million others were now fully vaccinated.
