Olivarez said Metro mayors agreed and passed a resolution prohibiting residents from going out of their homes to exercise until August 20.

(We prohibit exercise and walking. Because of the Delta variant, it's really a hard lockdown. That's what we talked about because there's a gathering when people exercise), the mayor said in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo.

If it is not really essential, it really won't be allowed)," he added.

Metro Manila is currently enforcing a uniform curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. during the ECQ.

As of August 9, the country has recorded 8,090 new cases, bringing the national total to 1,667,714; 573,136 of which are in the NCR.
