According to the OCTA Research Group, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is on a rampage all over the country, with more infections in children being reported at a Novaliches hospital and in Lapu-Lapu City. This may have prompted the Department of Health (DOH) into saying that it was leaving its doors open to the possibility of an extension of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

Providing a breather in these dangerous times is a report that the Philippine economy was reported to have posted an 11.8-percent gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the second quarter of 2021 despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
