CAVITE - The 1.5 million doses of Novavax procured by the provincial government will arrive by October, Governor Jonvic Remulla said on Tuesday (August 10).
"Ang order natin na 1,500,000 doses ng Novavax ay na-move at maaaring dumating sa first week ng October (The arrival of the 1,500,000 doses of Novavax that we ordered was moved and may arrive by the first week of October)," Remulla said in a Facebook post.
"Hinihintay na lamang natin ang Emergency Use Authority mula sa FDA para masimulan na natin ang vaccination program para sa buong lalawigan (We're only waiting for the EUA from the Food and Drug Administration before we start our provincial vaccination program)."
In July, the governor said the vaccines were expected to arrive by the third week of August.
The local government unit, meanwhile, ordered the removal of border checkpoints within the province to ease traffic flow amid the implementation of modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Despite the removal of checkpoints, Remulla said the Cavite Philippine National Police (Cavite PNP) is keeping an eye on other factors that may contribute to the increase of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases. This includes making sure that public utility vehicles are not overloaded, no residents are loitering, and that the curfew is strictly followed.
