On Twitter, Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said the deadline for the voter registration is still Sept. 30.

"Deadline: Sept. 30. No extension," she said.

In a statement, the poll body said the Commission En Banc has opened discussions regarding the issue on the extension of voter registration during the last en banc session.

But added that there has been no formal promulgation.

"The Executive Director has also been directed to study the matter and is expected to report his conclusions back to the en banc, in due time," the Comelec said.

Voter registration is currrently suspended in areas under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) and modified ECQ.

The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) earlier placed Metro Manila and other areas under ECQ to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
