The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, August 9, reported 8,900 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

This brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,667,714.
The case bulletin of the DOH also showed 7,937 new recoveries and six new deaths.
Total recoveries rose to 1,560,106 while total deaths increased to 29,128.
The DOH said 102 duplicates were removed from the total case count as 98 of these were recoveries.
"Moreover, four cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation," it said.
The Health department said all labs were operational on August 7 and all labs were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
