PCG conducts medical evacuation for injured Australian crew off Zamboanga City


Personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) BRP Bagacay (MRRV-4410) conducted a medical evacuation for an injured Australian crew of a livestock carrier off Domasa Point, Zamboanga City on Friday, Aug. 6.

The PCG said the injured Australian crew, who serves as a veterinarian of livestock carrier MV Maysora, suffered a bone fracture when he accidentally fell from a cattle pen while working.

The medical team of the Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao assisted in the safe and swift transportation of the crew member to the nearest hospital for the conduct of a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test.

The PCG said as of Friday, Aug. 7, the Australian crew will be transported to Manila via chopper for a needed medical operation after the release of his negative swab test result.
