The Department of Health (DOH) has warned the public against unscrupulous individuals offering fake coronavirus tests results.

The DOH said it has “received reports of businesses offering fake COVID-19 test results.”

“Fake and tampered COVID-19 test results can result in the spread of COVID-19 to homes, workplaces, and provinces/municipalities,” the DOH posted on its official Facebook page.

“Moreover, it can result in the compromise of the integrity of the laboratories and the whole laboratory network,” it added.

The DOH encouraged the public to immediately report to authorities, particularly to the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), the individuals who are offering such services.

“When you have encountered a person offering fake COVID-19 test results, you may contact your region’s CIDG regional field unit,” the DOH said.

The DOH encouraged the public to provide the following information when reporting such incidents:

“If available, a screenshot of the conversation containing information on the services offered. (Also), name and contact details of the person who provides the alleged services,” the DOH said.

The DOH said that “tampering and fabrication of fake test results violate Republic Act 11332 known as ‘Law on Reporting of Communicable Diseases’ and are punishable under Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code.”
