Boxing featherweight silver medalist Nesthy Petecio will carry the country’s colors in Sunday’s closing ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Philippine Olympic Committee President Bambol Tolentino announced this Saturday, saying they had bestowed the honor to Petecio after becoming the country’s first female medalist in Olympic boxing.

Petecio stayed behind with teammate Irish Magno after her championship fight to cheer for Eumir Marcial and Carlo Paalam, who were then vying for medals.

Marcial eventually pocketed the middleweight bronze medal and this Saturday, Paalam took home the flyweight silver.

The four boxers and their coaches will be attending the closing ceremony along with skateboarding president Carl Sambrano at the Tokyo National Stadium.

In the opening ceremony last July 23, Marcial joined judoka Kiyomi Watanabe in carrying the flag.
