Five Philippine-Japan Concession projects with estimated investments of $7.5 billion are being pushed for implementation because these are critical for the country’s economic recovery.
During a virtual briefing conducted by the Global Trade Venture Co., Ltd. (GTV) and Tokushima Auction Market Network, the groups presented the five Philippine-Japan Concession Projects as the following:
Philippine-Japan Fish Farm, Philippine-Japan Aqua Parks & Air Logistics, Philippine-Japan Digital Satellite Datalink Service Network, Philippine-Japan Regional Medical Care Center, and Philippine-Japan Artificial Parks.
Yoshihisa Arai, president and CEO of Global Trade Venture Co. Ltd/Tokushima Auction Market Japan, said the concession projects are estimated to cost $7.5 billion and are awaiting detailed discussions with both the Philippines and Japanese governments.
Kazuo Sato, senior consultant of GTV Group, a Japanese consulting group of the Japanese government, said they are already almost complete in their works and are in discussion with the local government units (LGUs). Implementation of these projects will depend on the decision of the Philippine government, Sato said.
The PH-Japan Concession projects are initiatives of some Philippine LGUs for official development assistance funds from the Japanese government and as market for the produced items from these projects.
Arai said they are also looking at collaboration with Japanese LGUs for support with their counterpart LGUs and business groups in Japan, including the Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
As project engineering consultancy firm, GTV is also coordinating with the LGUs and the Japanese agencies and officials, including Japanese legislators. They have also made presentations initially with the Philippine legislators and the Philippines’ Trade and Investment Center in Tokyo.
Arai cited the critical need for food and medical assistance for Filipinos during the pandemic. He said these projects can benefit Filipinos and support the recovery of the domestic economy.
Sato further noted that it is not only the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) that can support government to government projects but there are 6 other government agencies that can also do that including Tokushima Auction Market Network.
For instance, the proposed fish farm, aqua parks and air logistics project because this will be the game changer in Philippine agriculture/aquaculture development and economy in general. The project is expected to drastically change how aquamarine products will be produced, processed and eventually marketed for global markets. The project seeks to use artificial intelligence for controlled fish cages farms by concessioners to be assisted by aqua robots.
New Industries will be established and Highly trained personnel will be employed who are required to operate all the facilities such as agriculturist- fishery specialist, agricultural engineers, food processors, nutritionist, information technologists and scientist and specialty trained fishermen and support services crews. It will also create support facilities, R & D centers, satellite ground station facility, power generation and water processing plants and components warehouses, among others.
GTV endeavors to establish Organic Agriculture and Aquamarine Industry in the Philippines for the maximization of under-productive farmlands, fishing grounds, rich water and natural resources based on Joint Venture agreements.
Project construction is estimated to be completed in 24 months and operational franchise for 50 years.
The Global Digital Datalink Service Network project is also essential in the operations of advance technologies applications for agriculture, aquamarine, industrial engineering ,logistics and manufacturing sector.
For the Regional Medical Care Center project, the Japan Medicinal Association (JMA) is expected to operate the center providing medical care for all kinds of diseases using the Japanese medical standards and Japanese medicines.
In addition, the groups were pushing for the implementation of the Philippine Global AI Industrial Corridor project. As Industrial companies are now following the direction of Japanese government to move out of China, DTI Japan has embarked to find suitable areas to locate these companies. DTI Japan in collaboration with Global Trade Venture Co, Ltd, identified the Philippines as a suitable location to establish an Industrial Corridor that will cater exclusively to the requirements of Advanced Technologies Japanese “AI” (Artificial Intelligence) Industry thru Public Private Partnership or Joint Venture agreements.
