Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Thursday (August 5) said the city government will not be imposing a liquor ban in the city during the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ)
But, the mayor said that congregating and having drinking sprees outside homes are strictly prohibited by the local government.
In a message to the Manila Bulletin, Sotto confirmed that no liquor ban will be implemented in the city, unlike in other cities in the metropolis that had already announced a liquor ban.
Sotto had earlier announced that the city government of Pasig will not distribute quarantine passes, saying city residents are allowed to purchase goods and medicines, go to work, and leave their homes for emergencies.
He also said that public transportation will still be available to Pasig residents during ECQ.
The ECQ will be implemented in Metro Manila from August 6 to 20 following the surge of cases and the threat posed by the Delta variant of COVID-19 which is highly contagious.
As of August 4, 2021, Pasig City has a total of 604 active cases.
