The Manila mayor tendered his resignation on Aug. 4.

In his letter to NUP Secretary-general and Masbate First District Rep. Narciso Bravo Jr., Domagoso said he is thankful to NUP for giving him a chance “to serve in the best way possible.”

Domagoso was elected as NUP vice-chair for political affairs in August, 2019.

Some news agencies had earlier reported Domagoso's departure from NUP and that the Manila mayor will be joining the Aksyon Demokratiko party.

According to a source, Domagoso was set to take his oath as a member of the Aksyon Demokratiko party Thursday afternoon, but had to postpone it due to the “chaos in some NCR vaccine centers, especially in Manila this morning” that requires “utmost collective attention.”
