Mandaluyong Mayor Abalos: Barangay captains to decide on use of quarantine passes

It is up to Mandaluyong City barangay captains whether to issue new quarantine passes or not in their respective areas during the imposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos said on Thursday (August 5).

“About the quarantine pass, some of our barangay captains nag-issue ng bagong quarantine pass, some pinagamit ‘yong luma, ‘yong iba hindi na kinaya na mag-issue. Kasi we all know naman na maiksi ang time for preparation (Some barangays issue new quarantine passes, some made their residents use their old ones, some were not able to issue new passes. This is because, as we all know, we did not have enough time to prepare),” she said in a text message to the Manila Bulletin.

Meanwhile, she said that some barangay may opt not to issue quarantine passes.

“ sira na old quarantine they can ask for a new pass sa barangay lang naman (Should their old quarantine pass are damaged, they may request for new ones in their respective barangays),” she added.

The city government, according to her, will implement a liquor ban during the span of the ECQ.

Due to the surge of cases and the threat posed by the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19, Metro Manila will be placed under ECQ from August 6 to 20.

The national government has recently announced that it will provide financial assistance to listed Social Amelioration Program (SAP) beneficiaries following ECQ imposition in the metropolis.

There are 27 barangays in Mandaluyong City.
