DOH urges LGUs to ensure safety protocols in vax sites; public urged not to believe in 'fake news'

The Department of Health (DOH) has appealed to the different local government units (LGUs) to ensure the safe conduct of their respective coronavirus disease (COVID-19) immunization activities.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said that safety protocols should be strictly observed in vaccination sites.
“I appeal to our LGUs to please manage the public vaccination sites with strict compliance to the minimum public health standards and that all safety and health protocols be strictly enforced,” he said in a text message on Thursday, August 5.
Duque made the statement amid photos circulating in social media showing several individuals enduring long queues to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
In a statement, the DOH also encouraged the LGUs to have strict vaccination scheduling.
“Inaanyayahan rin namin ang mga lokal na pamahalaan na magkaroon ng registration upang ma-manage ang dami ng tao na pumupunta sa mga vaccination site (We also called on our local governments to conduct registration in order to manage the number of people who go to vaccination sites),” it said.
“Hindi natin pwedeng hayaan na maging superspreader events ang ating pambansang pagbabakuna lalo na at nandito na ang Delta variant (We cannot allow our national vaccination program to become superspreader events especially since the Delta variant is already here),” it added.
The DOH also called on the public to always wear their protective gears, and strictly observe minimum public health precautions.
“Suotin ang face mask at face shield nang maayos, mag physical distancing, magdala ng alcohol at sariling ballpen kapag kayo ay magpapabakuna nang naaayon sa schedule (Wear a face mask and face shield properly, do physical distancing, bring alcohol and your own ballpen on your vaccination schedule),” it said.
'Fake news'
The DOH also called on the public to only believe in reliable news sources.
“Huwag po tayong maniwala sa fake news na pag hindi nabakunahan, walang ayuda o hindi papapasukin sa trabaho (Let's not believe in fake news that if we are not vaccinated, you will not receive an 'ayuda' or you will not be allowed to go to work),” it said.
Iwasan po nating magpakalat ng mga fake news gaya ng mga ito na nagdudulot ng kalituhan sa ating mga kababayan (Let's avoid spreading fake news like these that only cause confusion),” it added.
COVID-19 vaccination activities will still continue in areas under enhanced community quarantine, it assured.
“Tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagbabakuna laban sa COVID-19. Umulan man o umaraw (We will continue the vaccination program against COVID-19, regardless of the weather),” the DOH assured.
