DOH reports 7,342 new COVID-19 cases

There were 7,342 new people who were found positive with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) nationwide, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday, August 4.

The tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since last year is now at 1,619,824, of which, 63,171 or 3.9 percent are active cases.

There is still no available data on the areas with the highest number of new cases this Wednesday. On August 3, most of the new cases were found in Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Central Visayas, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, said DOH Epidemiology Bureau Director Dr. Alethea De Guzman during a townhall event on Wednesday, August 4.

Deaths also jumped to 28,231 with 90 more succumbing to the viral illness.

The DOH also reported 7,285 new survivors, raising the number of recoveries to 1,528,422.

“Iwasan nating maging kampante sa anumang oras o sitwasyon, upang mapigilan ang tuluyang pagkalat ng COVID-19 sa bansa. Sundin nating mabuti ang ating minimum public health standards (Let us avoid being complacent at any time or situation, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in the country. Let's strictly follow our minimum public health standards),” the DOH reminded the public.
