13 cases of Delta variant reported in Las Piñas City

The Las Piñas City government has reported a total of 13 cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Delta variant in the city.

Dra. Julie Gonzales, City Health Office (CHO) officer, said the 13 individuals (not 14 as earlier reported by the Department of Health) afflicted with the deadly virus are all undergoing treatment in the city’s isolation facility.

She said out of the total number of infected persons, two are not Las Piñas residents but their tests were made in the city. They came from Bulacan and Dasmarinas, Cavite.

The CHO officer said the two non-Las Piñas residents were visiting relatives in Almanza Uno and Pulanglupa Uno.

Gonzales added the Delta variant cases in the city were considered local transmission.

She said Delta variant cases were detected in Barangays Almanza Uno, Pilar, Talon Dos, Pulanglupa Uno, Pulanglupa Dos, Pamplona Tres and Almanza Dos.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar reiterated her call for the full cooperation of the residents in the implementation of health and safety measures against the spread of COVID-19 Delta variant.

Aguilar reminded residents to report immediately to the City Health Office (CHO) once they have symptoms of COVID-19 so they could be given proper attention.

She said the city government is also constantly posting in its official Facebook page the health protocols that should be followed to prevent the spread of the virus.

The mayor also asked the residents, especially the senior citizens and those with comorbidities, to register at the city government’s “Ligtas na Las Piñero, Lahat Bakunado” vaccination program to protect themselves from any harm brought about by the virus.
