Boxer Nesthy Petecio yielded to hometown bet Sena Irie to settle for the silver medal in the women’s featherweight (54-57kg) division of the Tokyo Olympics Tuesday.

Irie won via unanimous decision after four judges scored 29-28 and one judge 30-27.

Petecio trailed after the first round but came out more aggressive in the second with quick combination shots to earn the four judges’ nods.

It was a close fight in the crucial third round with Irie winning it and eventually the bout.

Despite this, Petecio became the third boxer to win an Olympic silver medal after Anthony Villanueva (men’s feather) at the 1964 Tokyo Games and Onyok Velasco (men’s light fly) at the 1996 Atlanta.
