Anti-narcotics operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police killed a suspected big-time drug trafficker and arrested four others in a series of operations in Quezon City, Valenzuela City and Bulacan that led to the confiscation of almost P1.5 billion worth of shabu.
PNP Chief Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the two agencies are now conducting investigation to determine the source of the illegal drugs since based on the packaging of the confiscated shabu, they all came from one source.
He said that the joint operations in Magsaysay Street, Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City resulted in the arrest of Willie Lu Tan, a.k.a Chen Bien; Anton Wong, a.k.a Wang Zhong Chun and Wang Min; Chen Zhin and resulted in the seizure of an estimated P863.6 million worth of shabu.
The buy-bust operation in front of the China Bank Savings branch along General Luis St, Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City resulted in the arrest of Joseph Dy and the confiscation of some P108 million worth of shabu.
And in another buy-bust in Barangay Santol, Balagtas, Bulacan, police and PDEA agents killed 50-year old Wu Zishen and confiscated some P510 million worth of shabu.
"Based on the initial investigation, they were the ones distributing illegal drugs in Metro Manila and nearby provinces. We are now conducting investigation to identify the leader and other members of this syndicate," said Eleazar.
He lauded operatives of the PNP and the PDEA who conducted the series of anti-illegal drug operations and pointed out that the operations were a result of the strengthened cooperation and coordination between the two agencies.
“This is a huge blow against the illegal drug trade because there is a strong possibility that this syndicate is one of the major suppliers of shabu in Metro Manila and nearby areas," said Eleazar.
