Support poured in for Carlos Yulo after narrowly missing the podium in men's vault of the artistic gymnastics in the Tokyo Olympics Monday night.

Yulo's nickname, "Caloy", became the top trending topic on Twitter with words of gratitude and encouragement for the 21-year-old gymnast.

“We’re proud of you, champ!” “Salamat sa laban, Caloy!” “Thank you for representing the Philippines!” “You’re still our champion!” were among the common phrases the netizens wrote shortly after Yulo settled for fourth place in the medal event.

Netizens are also wishing him already to make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Some also wrote words of appreciation to Yulo’s coach Munehiro Kugimiya, who has been training him in Japan for the past years.

Yulo, the youngest competitor in the finals, posted 14.716 after two vaults behind gold-medal winner Shin Jeahwan of Korea (14.783), Russian Olympic Committee’s Denis Abliazin (14.783) and Armenia’s Artur Davtyan (14.733).
