A public teacher from Sagnay, Camarines Sur was able to build a classroom by selling BTS merchandise.
Kate Argones, an elementary adviser from Quilomaon Elementary School, has started #HelpBuildAClassrom fundraiser in March to raise funds for the construction of a classroom.
To help her cause, Argones put some of her BTS merchandise collection and put them on sale on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter via paid raffles.
“It was challenging given that it was my first time to be a forewoman. I was the one who managed everything — from project launch to daily updates, to procurement of materials, to manning the laborers,” Argones told Manila Bulletin.
To track every progress of the construction, she started a daily vlog.
“It was tiring but at the same time very fulfilling especially when I edit the daily vlogs and could really see the progress of the classroom,” she shared.
The project raised over P293,000 and it took them only 45 days to complete the classroom.
“I’m really excited for the kids of Quilomaon Elementary School to utilize the classroom. This is for you. You are my future. I am diligently praying that COVID-19 disappears and I get to see you, meet you, teach you as well as learn from you. We created this fun learning environment for you,” Argones said.
She also thanked those who helped and supporter her initiative.
“I honestly don’t know what the result of the project could have been if it weren’t for your encouragement and presence be it personal or virtual. Thank you for trusting me, but most importantly thank you because we didn’t just build a classroom, we build dreams. I love you more than love.”
