Metro Manila residents are priming themselves up for a return to the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) on August 6 to August 20, and the restrictions could not come at a better time as the number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections turned out to be the highest since June for two days in a row.

The business sector welcomed the decision to revert back to the strictest quarantine level for two weeks, even as the government vowed to undertake massive vaccination during this period.

Meanwhile, rains are projected to continue through the weekend as the southwest monsoon, or “habagat”, continued to affect the western parts of Luzon.
