The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church in Manila will now have relics of Saints John the Baptist and Roch.
The relics of the two saints will be enshrined at Quiapo Church on Saturday, July 31.
"We requested the relics from the Chapel of Holy Relics in Cebu," Adrian Hapa, who is in charge of the event, said in an interview Wednesday, July 28.
"These relics are ex ossibus (from the bones) and ex indumentis (from the clothing)," he added.
Hapa said the relics will be placed at the side altar of the church.
"Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula, the Mass presider, will seal and enshrine the relics of the two saints," he said.
When asked if the public will be allowed to venerate the relics, Hapa said the faithful may only pray but will not be allowed to touch it.
"They can pray but they cannot touch due to the pandemic," he said.
Hapa urged the faithful to include the end of the pandemic in their prayers.
"Let us continue to pray for this pandemic to end especially now that there's the Delta variant," he said.
