Metro Manila mayors are meeting tonight to discuss various protocols that will be implemented during the reimposition of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces starting August 6.
Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco bared this, adding that the local chief executives of 16 cities and lone municipality in the NCR want to "synchronize" their policies pertaining to curfew hours, the use of quarantine pass, checkpoints, liquor ban, among others.
"Kasi mas maganda synchronized eh, para 'di magkalituhan mga tao (It should be synchronized so people would not get confused)," he said in DZBB interview.
The meeting, according to Tiangco, started at 7 p.m.
The mayor also called on the national government to provide the Metro Manila cities more vaccine supplies. This is aside from the financial assistance that their constituents need, which has been assured by the national government.
"Kasi para habang naka-lockdown, hindi naman pepwedeng nasa bahay lang ‘yung tao... Kasi base sa datos, ang lumalabas, malakas talagang depensa ‘yung bakuna (People cannot just simply stay at home during lockdown. They should also be vaccinated because according to data, vaccine is really the best protection against the virus spread)," Tiangco said.
"So kailangan namin ng first dose ng vaccine, para habang hindi nakakapagtrabaho ang mga tao, bakunahan nang bakunahan (So we need more supplies of the first dose of the vaccine, so while people cannot go to work, they will be vaccinated)," he added.
He stressed that the local government units are not allowed to administer their existing vaccine doses as first dose because they are dedicated for those getting the second dose.
