Luxury resort living: Cebu Landmasters sets the benchmark of tomorrow

Opening in 2024, the new and improved Abaca Resort Mactan promises to usher in the new era of Cebu Landmasters Inc. and its CLI Premier Hotels Inc., being at the forefront of the very best that Cebu tourism can offer.

Through the years, the Abaca Resort Mactan has already notched an enviable reputation as one of the best places to stay or dine at when in Mactan—but when you add to that the extensive and creative planning that CLI has envisioned for this new “baby” of theirs, it looks like they’ll truly be setting the new standard for luxury for boutique resorts not only in Cebu, but for the country.

Set to be completed in 2024, the new Abaca Resort Mactan is CLI’s first resort development and will feature a timeless Sky Villas concept to serve as the platform for memorable getaways. The photo above is a perspective of Büro Ole Scheeren’s architecture and innovative design of the re-imagined luxury resort to open in 2024.

All was unveiled during an intimate virtual event that Cebu Landmasters hosted. The new Abaca Resort Mactan is an exciting collaboration between Filipino and global talent. The soon-to-be landmark design comes courtesy of renowned architectural firm Büro Ole Scheeren, working with one of our most innovative of architectural firms, AIDEA.

Abaca Resort Mactan is a 125-room all-suite affair, featuring panoramic ocean views, rising 17 stories high on a 4,500-sqaure meter property, exactly where the former Abaca Boutique Resort used to stand in Punta Engaño, Lapu Lapu City. In 2019, CLI acquired the property, and signed up The Abaca Group to continue operating the hotel, renowned for the luxury experiences it would offer to both local and global tourists.

Büro Ole Scheeren is behind projects that have won numerous awards globally. Some of its more notable projects include the MahaNakhon Tower in Bangkok, and The Interlace in Singapore, which garnered the World Building of the Year 2015, and the DUO, also in Singapore, which is winner of the CTBUH Urban Habitat Award 2020.

The Abaca Resort Mactan will feature a Sky Villas concept, offering the luxury of space. Oceanfront Suites will range from 40 to 50 square meters, while the Sky Villas will go up to 105 square meters. The one and two bedrooms will have their own floating infinity pools.

Büro Ole Scheeren’s architecture and innovative design of the re-imagined luxury resort includes the unique infinity pools in the Sky Villas.

There’s romance, mystery, and magic in the architecture and features of the soon-to-rise hotel. And as Ole Scheeren was proud to expound on, there will be an intermingling of the outdoors and the indoors, of water and land, and of being part of nature while on the lap of luxury.

Aside from its awe-inspiring architecture, the resort will feature a luxurious infinity pool, an elevated cascading plunge pool, 360-degree roofdeck bar, a private beach and panoramic ocean views.

An elevated cascading plunge pool, a 360-degree roof deck bar, a private beach—are all enhanced by a gym, spa, kids center, and function room for events. The loyal following of Jason Hyatt and the Abaca Group’s culinary adventures have nothing to fear, as the resort will have three exciting food outlets, each with its own unique concept. There will be a live-fire Asian concept, an all-day dining format, and the Abaca restaurant will return with a new home on the rooftop deck!

It’s all part of the exciting new adventures that CLI has been taking on in the hospitality industry. One more jewel on its crown, and we all can’t wait for the doors of new Abaca Resort Mactan to open.
