Once and for all, actress-director Bela Padilla set things straight about rumors linking her to hunk actor Zanjoe Marudo several years ago.

In an interview with G3 San Diego for the "#LiveWithG3" YouTube series, Bela said that she and Zanjoe were never really a couple.

"Like, we weren’t boyfriend-girlfriend. We did date a few times, but that’s it. Like, we didn’t really date 'date.' Like, hindi naging kami so that's it," she said.

Anyway, Bela is happy that they were able to get back from being friends and work again.

“Zanjoe is a really good friend. Like, before we tried to date, we were friends first. So para siyang barkada. It’s nice to have, you know, friends that you can rely on in the industry. I am happy that we were able to bring that back, or to start the friendship again.”

The two actors will share the screen anew via Bela's directorial debut, “366.”

According to Bela, during the online meeting for the new film, it was the only time he saw and talked to Zanjoe since their TV series "My Dear Heart" ended in 2017.

Though, she related that they just didn't have the chance to see each other anywhere the last four years.

At the said story conference, Bela tried to make it as comfortable as possible for everyone.

In terms of working with Zanjoe again, Bela admitted feeling "super nervous because we have history."

“The first scene, I was so scared to direct him. I was so scared nakalimutan ko ano 'yung sinisigaw before ‘action.’... Sa sobrang kaba ko, nakalimutan kong sabihin 'yung sound and camera. So 'yung cameraman and audioman, nakatingin sa akin, ‘Ano game na ba?’ Kinabahan lang ako ng very, very light,” she shared.

Asked if she cast Zanjoe as one of her leading men, Bela said: "He has a contract with Viva Films. It wasn’t me, it wasn’t my decision either. I can only go so far with deciding for things.”
