Weightlifter Ando lands in seventh place

Elreen Ando settled for seventh place in the women’s 64-kg weightlifting division of the Tokyo Olympics Tuesday, July 27.

Ando lifted a total of 222 kgs — 100 in snatch and 122 in clean and jerk — but it was not enough to secure a podium finish in her Summer Games debut.

Canada’s Maude Charron took the gold with a total of 236 kgs, including a lift of 131 in the clean and jerk. Giorgia Bordignon settled for silver (232 kgs) while Taiwan’s Chen Wen-Huei took home the bronze (230 kgs).
