Mayor Emi: Bike lane will help reduce air pollution

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the construction of the Metro Manila Bike Lane Network will help lessen air pollution.

Rubiano congratulated and thanked Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arturo Tugade and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark Villar for the project that will provide an effective solution to the high prices of fuel, increasing fares, as well as traffic and air pollution.

She recalled that during her stint in Congress, she was one of the proponents of a House bill promoting the use of bicycles as an alternative mode of transportation.

The said House bill also promotes the creation of the local bike lane office that will take charge in implementing policies pertinent to the bicycle act.

Rubiano also said that biking in this pandemic time is not just a mere recreational activity but also becomes a way of life.
