Conjoined twins in Aklan die

ILOILO CITY – Conjoined twins Yvonne and Ivory Sabsalon from Aklan province have died a week after their birth.

Tina Ambagan, the aunt of conjoined twins, said they died while being treated at a hospital in Iloilo City.

“Hindi na po kinaya ng kambal dahil ang hina po ang kanilang paghinga. Sinubukan po lahat ng doktor na ma-survive sila pero hindi po talaga nila kinaya (They weren’t able to make it because they were having a hard time breathing. The doctor tried everything to make them survive, but the weren’t able to make it),” said Ambagan in a Facebook post.

Yvone and Ivory were born last July 17 to Peter and Donna Sabsalon from Malay town.

The couple knew they were going to have twins, but were completely shocked to find out that their daughters are conjoined.

With the help of Radyo Todo Aklan station, Yvonne and Ivory were referred to Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) in Iloilo City for a surgical operation.

“But it’s sad they are gone,” said Jonathan Cabrera, Radyo Todo Aklan station manager.

Many also reached out to the conjoined twins to give financial help for what would have been a surgical operation to save their lives.
