1 ton of garbage collected in coastal cleanup in Tagum City

DAVAO CITY - The Coast Guard District of Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) and its partners collected a total of 1,000 kilograms of garbage in the coastal area in Tagum City on Sunday, July 25.

In a statement on Monday, CG Commodore Allan Corpuz, CGDSEM Commander said:" Your PCG is the frontline in upholding safer and cleaner marine environment, this is our role to preserve the bountiful marine resources of Davao region."

The coastal clean up was held in the coastal area of Hijo Resources Corporation (HRC) and was organized by the Coast Guard together with HRC, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Kadayawan, Royal Davao Eagles Club (RDEC), PENRO Davao del Norte, Perfect Milling Coporations, Vapurr, and the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office Tagum City.

The CGDSEM also planted 800 mangroves in the four-hectare of land area in HRC.

Hijo President and CEO Rosanna Tuason-Fores thanked the PCG for its initiative in protecting and preserving the marine biodiversity of the area.

Tuason-Fores also revealed that the area will soon be a diving spot that will be opened for tourists visiting Davao del Norte.
