Creamline continued its dominance in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference after smothering PLDT Home Fibr, 25-16, 25-12, 25-13, on Sunday, July 25 at the PVC Socio-Civic & Cultural Center in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Alyssa Valdez spearheaded the Cool Smashers anew with 16 points all from attacks to remain unscathed in four matches.

Michele Gumabao chipped in nine points including four blocks and Jema Galanza fired six kills for eight points as versatile setter Jia Morado distributed the ball well to finish with 19 excellent sets on top of three points.

Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses shuffled his lineup to give more playing time to his second stringers – and it proved effective.

“Happy-happy lang, yun naman ang sinabi ni coach Tai (Bundit) kaya happy kami sa loob. Medyo lumayo score so yung second stringer kailangan din talagang i-break, so maganda naman ang ipinakita ng second stringer talaga,” said Meneses.

Meneses hoped his bench players will continue stepping up especially with Jeanette Panaga absent in this game after hurting her ankle in their last match against Black Mamba-Army last Thursday.

PLDT absorbed its fourth straight defeat, with none from its players scoring in double figures.

Isa Molde could only score seven points, while Shola Alvarez came off the bench with five points despite 18 excellent sets from Rhea Dimaculangan.

Overall, Creamline exposed PLDT’s lethargic plays by dominating in attacks, 43-25, blocks, 7-1, and service aces, 4-0.

The Power Hitters also stumbled with 21 unforced errors in the 69-minute match.
