Michael Cinco, Furne Amato win big at EMI Gala in Dubai

Renowned Dubai-based Filipino fashion designers Michael Cinco and Furne Amato were recently recognized during the EMI Gala Fashion Awards, presented by Distinctive International Arab Festivals Awards.


The event is a uniquely organized and highly luxurious fashion awards gala dinner held in Dubai which highlights the cultural diversity currently found in the United Arab Emirates while honoring distinctive people in the fashion industry.


According to its official website, the nominees and winners were chosen objectively by a selected committee formed by high-profile experts in the fashion industry, based on their yearly achievements and creations.



During the EMI Gala Award, the Fashion Designer of the Year trophy was bestowed to Cinco, who was described as "a game-changer."



"His fearlessness, daring, and mind-blowing designs were the major reasons that made him the international fashion design legend that he is today. From Beyonce, J.Lo, and to Britney Spears, Hollywood A-listers were astonished by his creative mind and designs," they said.



Upon receiving the plum, Cinco admitted he's "so humbled and honored to received such prestigious award."



"And I'd like to thank EMI Gala's Dr. Michel Daher for this recognition.
I'd like to share this award to all the people who lost their lives, who had a difficult time during this pandemic. But my heart is full of happiness tonight because in spite of the difficult and challenging times that we are facing right now in the world. We are here gathered tonight celebrating life, hope, beauty, and fashion. Thank you."

Meanwhile, Amato bagged the International Fashion Designer of the Year and Fashion Innovator recognition.



He was introduced with this statement: "From the Asian capital of fashion, the Philippines, our next honoree is one of the world's go-to designers who successfully made the name for himself in the Middle East and the entire world. His edginess and one-of-a-kind creations made the world remember his name as one of the most daring fashion designers out there."



As for Amato's speech, he said: "Creativity doesn't need much words. What's important is that we are all safe and we have to thank Dubai, the UAE for making this place safe for everyone. Thank you EMI Gala."
