The Pasay City government started deploying the AstraZeneca vaccine doses it procured by inoculating around 700 residents at the Pasay City West High School on Thursday, July 22.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the city government purchased 250,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the British Drug maker through a tripartite agreement.
Rubiano said the first batch of the vaccine supply consisting of 7,500 doses has arrived in the city and it will be used for residents belonging to A1 to A5 categories.
She said around 500 to 700 pre-listed residents received the AstraZeneca vaccines at the Pasay City West High School.
The mayor expressed hope that with the arrival of the vaccines procured by the local government, the city would achieve herd immunity.
Rubiano said that she cannot give the time frame to achieve herd immunity because it will depend on the number of vaccines that will arrive.
