DepEd to release official calendar for School Year 2021-2022 'soon'

Following the announcement of the opening of classes for the upcoming school year, an official of the Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday, July 22, said that the official school calendar will also be released soon.

“Ilalabas na ang DO soon (We will come out with the DO soon),” DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Instruction Diosdado San Antonio told the Manila Bulletin in a Viber message.

He was referring to the issuance containing the official school calendar for SY 2021-2022 through an order signed by Education Secretary Leonor Briones.

DepEd officially announced the school opening date for School Year (SY) 2021-2022 scheduled on Sept. 13 as approved by President Duterte.

“The school calendar for SY 2021-2022 will be released soon,” DepEd said in a separate statement issued last week.

Meanwhile, the Public Service Affairs (PAS) clarified that DepEd has yet to release the official school calendar for SY 2021-2022.

“PAS will release official information on the school calendar,” it said. “All official information and signed Department Order on the school calendar will be posted at DepEd Philippines FB page and uploaded at the DepEd website,” PAS added.

As it prepares for the incoming school year, DepEd appealed for support and cooperation from stakeholders to ensure that education will continue amidst the global health crisis.

With the implementation of limited face-to-face classes still on hold pending the approval from President Duterte, DepEd said that the blended or distance learning set-up will still be used this school year.

Recognizing the challenges faced by teachers, parents and learners under the blended learning set-up last school year, DepEd is eyeing more improvements in learning delivery modalities based on best practices and experience of schools.
