Famous donut chain celebrates its 84th anniversary with the release of limited-time offerings

What do Buster Bluth of Arrested Development, Homer Simpson of The Simpsons, and Miranda Hobbes of Sex and the City have in common? Apart from being famous fictional characters, the answer is their obsession with donuts. The sublime pastry is very accessible, affordable, and can be eaten anytime, anywhere. Each bite is a sugary adventure that makes you feel alive inside. What’s not to like?

One of the top donut brands recognized all over the globe, Krispy Kreme is celebrating its 84th birthday. The American donut company and coffee chain was founded on July 13, 1937 by Vernon Rudolph, who rented a building in what is now historic Old Salem in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There, he sold donuts using a yeast-raised recipe he bought from a New Orleans chef.

The brand commemorates the occasion by coming up with new variants for their pastry and chillers. Perhaps influenced by July being national ice cream month, the latest donut flavors are of our all-time favorite cold treats. The Ice Kreme Doughnuts is inspired by most-loved birthday ice cream flavors namely Vanilla, Strawberry, Pistachio, Choco Chip Cookie, Chunky Monkey, and Cotton Candy.

The Strawberry Funfetti is strawberry Kreme and rainbow sprinkles sandwiched doughnut, dipped in strawberry crunch icing, topped with more strawberries. Meanwhile, the Choco Chip Cookie Dough is choco chip cake glazed with Malagos chocolate, topped with a vanilla Kreme scoop, cookie dough chunks, Chips Ahoy, and white choco drizzle.
