Even as the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has been urged to suspend its recent decision allowing minors from five to 17 years old in outdoor areas due to the threat of the more virulent Delta variant of the coronavirus (COVID-19), minors who are accompanied by adults continue to go out of their homes in many parts of Rizal Province which is under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) classification.

In Angono’s May Puso Eco Park located at Sitio Labahan in Barangay San Isidro, this writer spotted one family with small children strolling at the park.
Another group of youngsters, accompanied by two adults, was seen swimming in Sitio Labahan, a portion of the river which has become a favorite laundry area for residents.
The office of Angono Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon said village authorities are roaming in the recreational areas in Barangay San Isidro to remind visitors of the health protocols as a requirement for allowing minors who are accompanied by adults entry into the ecological park. The area used to be a garbage dump site but has since been converted into a recreational park.
Rizal Province has numerous outdoor recreational areas that are famous to tourists, including those coming from Metro Manila.
Mayors in Metro Manila have urged the IATF to recall its earlier decision allowing minors outdoors.
