Aspiring cue artists will get a chance to prove themselves in actual competition as the three-day Shark’s Junior 10-Ball Open fires off on Friday, July 23.
The event will gather players aged 17 and below, with the champion getting a cash prize of P30,000 and the runner-up taking home P15,000. Third and fourth placers stand to receive P5,000 each.
Team Adurc Billiards, Wilde Blu Juniors, and Makati Pool Players Association (MAPPA) will be represented by Dartagnan Philippe Bonode, John Gutierrez, Dominic John Versoza, Andrei Louise Manalo, Tristan Tenio, Jolo Ladao Aspuria, Albert James Manas, Earl Vincent Trinidad, Bastien Cyril Olanda, Rey Calanao, Elijah Benedict De Mesa and Peri Cues pro player Bernie Regalario.
In addition, Kayla Herrera and Sofhia Rosales, two promising female players from Wilde Blu Juniors, will join the tournament.
The event hopes that it would attract more young female players to play pool in the near future. Wilde Blu Junior Team, Team Adurc Billiards, and MAPPA have collaborated in achieving one goal and that is to empower the youth through sports.
Last month, Anton Raga ruled the Quezon City 10-Ball Open, an event supported by Mayor Joy Belmonte and the Quezon City Tourism Department. It was organized to discover future talents in the sport and promote pool as an avenue to instill discipline among the youth.
