Zubiri said he will again be running for a second term in the Senate as independent candidate next year.

"But we have an alliance with the administration, supportive naman po tayo sa administration programs, but ako po'y walang partido (we are supportive to the administration's programs, but I do not belong to a political party)," he said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

He said he will be joined by Senators Sherwin Gatchalian, Joel Villanueva, and Richard Gordon, as well as former senators, Sorsogon Gov. Francis "Chiz" Escudero and Antique Representative Loren Legarda.

"We will run as a team, it's a performance team," he said.

"'Yong performance po namin ang ipapakita sa taumbayan kung masaya ba po sila sa nagawa po naming mga batas at panukala (We will show our performance to the people so they can decide if they are happy with the laws and bills we pushed)," he said.

For his part, Zubiri said he will let his achievements as a senator campaign for him.

"Hindi po 'yong salita ang magkakampanya po sa akin kung hindi 'yong nagawa po natin, 'yong achievements po natin sa Senado ang ating kakampanyanhin (It's not words that will campaign for me but what we have done, our achievements in the Senate)," he stressed, saying that he pushed for "action-oriented" measures.

He also touted his "perfect attendance", saying he never missed a session in Congress since starting as a representative of the Bukidnon province's third district.

"Hindi naman sa pagyayabang, wala pa po akong absent since 1998 (I don't mean to brag, but I was never absent since 1998)," he said.
