Vice President Leni Robredo’s “Vaccine Express” program would be brought to Quezon City for the inoculation of jeepney drivers after the pilot project kicked off in Manila last month.

The preparations for the rollout of Vaccine Express, a drive-through vaccination facility, are underway, Robredo said during her weekly radio show.

“Nag-start iyong coordination namin with Quezon City (government) so pinag-usapan na na first week of August ito (Our coordination with Quezon City has already started so we discussed the rollout will be by first week of August),” she said Sunday, July 18.

The vice president noted the recipients of the vaccines against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) next month will be jeepney drivers.

Robredo’s office has yet to announce further details about the Vaccine Express project in Quezon City, as it was still completing preparations.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) launched the latest initiative to help the national and local government’s response to the pandemic.

Like the one in Manila, the OVP will be responsible for the project’s logistics and personnel, while the local government unit will provide the vaccine doses to the jeepney.

Over 4,500 individuals, mostly tricycle drivers and delivery riders, got their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine through the drive-through vaccination site in Manila.

Robredo said the second dose of the vaccine will be administered to them also at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex starting tomorrow, July 20, until Wednesday.

The OVP is open to more partnerships with other LGUs for the vaccination effort, provided that the vaccine doses will be coming from the local government like in Manila and Quezon City.
