Ex-Cebu Governor Lito Osmena passes away

CEBU CITY – Former Cebu Governor Emilio "Lito" Osmena has died.

He was 82.

Osmena's death was first confirmed in a Facebook post by former Cebu City Mayor Alvin Garcia on Monday night.

"RIP, Lito O, the architect of Ceboom," said Garcia. Osmena's son Mimo came up with a separate Facebook post about his father's passing. "So long Dad! You will always be part of us. Thank you is not enough!" Mimo said.

The cause of death was not immediately known.

Lito was the brother of former Senator Sonny Osmena, who died last year. They were the grandsons of the late president Sergio Osmena.

Lito and Sonny were cousins of former Senator Sergio Osmena III and former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmena.
