It seems like the wedding of sweethearts Angel Locsin and Neil Arce is finally happening later this year.
This after Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson's name cropped up again as one of the principal sponsors for the celebrity wedding.
It would be recalled that Angel and Neil were supposed to get married in November 2020.
But they decided to reschedule their wedding in 2021 due to the pandemic, although no date has been set for the much-awaited nuptial.
Lacson revealed that he is close to the family of Neil. Previously, the senator also defended Angel from allegations that she is a member of the New People's Army after she had been red-tagged by a military official in October 2020.
"Angel Locsin is not an NPA. I’ll make a disclosure. Her fiancé, Neil Arce, is a family friend. As a matter of fact, pag kinasal 'yun, kukunin akong ninong (they will get me as their principal sponsor)," the senator said.
Lacson said that Angel has a soft spot in his heart because the Kapamilya star was part of his film bio titled "Ping Lacson: Super Cop" in 2000.
In that movie, Angel was only 15 years old when she played the role of Robina who was rescued by Lacson's raiding team.
The late Rudy Fernandez played the role of Lacson while Lorna Tolentino played the role of the police officer's wife.
In an article by ABS-CBN in September 2020, Neil said that they plan for an intimate wedding as pandemic-induced quarantine goes on.
"We were thinking, 'Should we do it small?' But that's not us eh. We're friends, we have a group of friends. We want everyone to be there. We want everyone to have fun," said Neil of their wedding.
Neil added: "And you know, Angel didn't attend their prom. She didn't have a debut. So this is the only big party she's going to have."
