The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued at least 21 passengers from a capsized motorbanca off the Corregidor Island on Friday, July 16.
The PCG, citing the report of the owner of the boat, said the motorbanca departed Barangay Wawa 2, Rosario, Cavite at around 10 a.m. en route Corregidor Island for leisure swimming.
However, the motorbanca encountered engine trouble and battered by big waves, causing it to capsize.
The PCG said it received a report from a concerned citizen and immediately deployed a response team to render necessary assistance.
Fortunately, a fishing banca was transiting in the area and immediately rescued all passengers.
Personnel of PCG Station Cavite ferried the 21 passengers from Amaya 7, Tanza to Barangay Wawa 2, Rosario, Cavite where they were received further medical assistance.
No passengers and crew members were reportedly injured during the incident.
