Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police Gen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar lauded Muntinlupa policemen who showed professionalism despite being cursed and insulted by a motorist.
The incident happened last July 14 when Muntinlupa police responded to a situation along Susana Heights road in Brgy. Tunasan where the vehicle of Franz Luke Orbos obstructed the road.
In a video of the incident, Orbos,a resident of San Juan, is seen confronting a police officer and saying, “Bakit mo ako titiketan? Ano ginawa ko? (Why are you going to give me a ticket? What did I do?)”
His rude behavior prompted responding officers to try and apprehend him but he said, “Bakit niyo ako poposasan? Hindi nyo ba ako kilala? Hindi niyo ako kilala? P**** hindi niyo ako kilala? Kung sino ang tatay ko? P**** kayo e. Ginagago niyo ako. Tingin niyo takot ako sa inyo? (Why are you going to handcuff me? Don’t you know me? Do you know who my father is? You are fooling me. Do you think I’m afraid of you??”
According to the PNP, Orbos was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at that time.
“I commend the policemen who were verbally abused by the motorist for staying professional and keeping their tempers in check,” said Eleazar.
He added, “I saw the viral video of an unruly motorist in Muntinlupa and I commend the police in the video for showing the true meaning of maximum tolerance.”
Eleazar likened the incident to a telenovela and said the police face similar incidents all the time, referring to people who do not respect the law.
The PNP chief said Orbos will be charged with alarm and scandal, resistance and disobedience to a person in authority, and direct assault.
“Your family lineage and status in life should not be used to abuse the law and trample on the rights of others. That is why I salute those policemen for showing who the better persons are,” said Eleazar.
He warned that “if you abuse the law and the people who implement it, we will make sure that you will be held liable, whoever you are or whoever is your father. I believe there are no parents who will tolerate this kind of behavior from their children.”
